The 50 by 50 Pinot Noir Rodgers Creek Sonoma Coast 2017

The label is owned by Gerald Casale from the legendary group Devo, a man who appreciates his Old World wines. The aptly named 50 by 50 Pinot Noir is in fact a 50/50 blend of two Pinot Noir clones: the Pommard and the 667 Dijon clone. The wine spent twelve months in French oak barriques after being fermented with Burgundian yeast in small, half-ton bins which were punched down by hand twice daily for fourteen days.
The 2017 Pinot Noir is gushing lush fruit, a good balance of oak and acid and tasting very complex with a floral bouquet as it opens up. It delivers concentrated flavors; black cherry with pepper and spice, then earth, herb and mushroom. A pristine expression of Pinot Noir blended from Dijon 667 and Pommard clones. A medium-bodied, delicate balance of fruit, acidity and French Oak structured firmly in the Goldilocks zone.
