TASTING NOTES

2017 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon captures the spirit of the 2017 vintage with dazzling finesse of flavor and stunning balance. Muddled ripe strawberries and boysenberries compel the nose to complex tones of creamy red cassis, spice box, and delicate herbs de Provence. Red fruit tones delight the palate, rising and falling with amplitude and grace to a brilliant finish that leaves the brain tingling and heart yearning for the next sip.

Turnbull is rooted in the culture and history of the Napa Valley, making wines of exceptional quality in Oakville since 1979. At the core of their independently- owned business is their estate-grown fruit, which they carefully tend to from dirt to bottle. Turnbull wines are crafted with integrity and without compromise, resulting in a portfolio of wines defined by its consistency of balance, structure, and depth.

It starts with the painstaking process of vinifying lot by lot, tasting and evaluating each for specific attributes and characteristics. Like a complex puzzle, Winemaker Peter Heitz weaves together a narrative of place, tasting through and chalking each barrel, one by one, to determine the final blends. Turnbull wines are aged in 100% French Oak barrels and rest in bottle for extended time so that they may be enjoyed as they were intended: upon release and over the long-term.

In the vineyards, they focus on farming each vineyard to the highest quality. At the end
of each vintage, the team reflect's on their practices, consider what Mother Nature handed them, and then challenge themselves to push the bar even further in the next vintage. Each vineyard site lends its own voice and signature to the resulting blend. For example, the fingerprint of the famous Fortuna Vineyard shines through in this wine, providing tart, fresh red fruits and spice box components; Amoenus Vineyard lends dark cherry tones and a mid-palate width; Leopoldina Vineyard provides structure and texture, and dense black fruit; the Turnbull home vineyard surrounding their historic winery brings fresh red fruit and focus.
